Lets Go Caravan and Camping Super Show Must Do Again’s and Tips
With the Let’s Go Queensland Caravan and Camping Super Show just passing. there are a couple of memorable highlights and key tips we took away.
From meeting new people to creating connections and content, our stay at the super show was a lot of fun. So we have compiled a list of things that we learned and would do again at our next show.
Would do again
From the towing class to the Creek to Coast cooking show, the super show had so much to do. Our top 5 picks for the event have to be:
- Cooking show with Scotty from Creek to Coast. Cooking With Scotty was a great highlight. Quick and easy meals that the audience got to try.
- Towing master class Although slightly overlooked, this Masterclass was extremely helpful and filled with meaningful information and useful tips; particularly for inexperienced towers and those who haven’t towed their caravan in a while. For anyone just beginning or about to get on the road, this Masterclass was perfect for you. Our biggest takeaway was learning about the correct weight distribution of a vehicle.
- Creating connections Meeting people in different areas of the industry with a shared passion is always fun. Learning about how they got there and what their passion is helps bring the people in the industry closer together. Shout out to Dion at Hardkorr, the team at BBQ Arm, Dan and Nico from Aussie caravan, and The Camplify team.
- 4×4 off-road master class Tucked away in the far corner was an incredible display of off-road driving control. With man-made obstacles and interactive learning, these masterclasses had everything from towing off-road to car control.
- All the new caravans, motorhomes and RV’s The wide range and variety of caravans and RV’s were of course the major highlight of the show. Getting to see these all in person allows you to get an idea of what you’re looking for in a home away from home. With varying price points, the vehicles on display accommodated every budget.
Obviously, our list is in no specific order, it’s like picking your favourite child. You don’t have one (except cooking with Scotty because he was giving out free food to everyone).
Tips for the next show
After being at the super show our team had a couple of key takeaways that will help make your day a little better.
- Pack properly. Unfortunately, we learned the hard way that some parts of the showground act like wind tunnels. Especially in winter, these are the worst places to be without the correct gear. You can always take items off but if you don’t have more to put on it can be hard to enjoy the day. Make sure to check the weather on the day you’re coming to ensure you’re properly equipped for rain, wind, or shine.
- Budget. Like the Ekka, it is very easy to spend more than they originally wanted. Between food and small items you pick up during the day, it is easy to go over budget. Keeping track of what you spend and having a definitive sum is a great way to plan your trip.
- Talk to the vendors. This one might be self-explanatory but just talking to the people that are there really helps to boost your experience. It doesn’t have to be all about caravanning as well. Especially if you’re at the VANbassador stage, participating in conversations can really help to boost your overall experience. There were also a large variety of stores related to 4×4 accessories, camping, and insurance (to name a few!) When walking around the whole show, there are plenty of stall holders related to a variety of things.
